Who are G4S?
G4S is the world’s leading global, integrated security company specialising in the delivery of security and related services across six continents with 533,000 employees. Within the UK & Ireland, G4S has a number of physical sites from which it conducts its operations, as well as a large number of client sites on which G4S is responsible for delivering Facilities Management services. Under these contracts, there is a requirement to deliver reactive, planned, compliance, remedial and project works (upgrade purposes or for lifecycle replacement.) for the lift and escalator assets under management. In total there are c.350 lift and escalator assets under management, across 60 locations, and through a dispersed supply chain.
The properties under the scope of this RFP vary in size and usage and due to the nature of G4S’s business will change over time as the profile of G4S’s business and clients evolve. At the time of this RFP, G4S owns, leases or manages the following types of property:
Office buildings/ Secure Government sites/ Nuclear sites under development/ Schools & colleges/ Hospitals/ Healthcare facilities/ Ambulance depots/ HM Prisons/ HM Secure training facilities & youth offender institutes/ High security cash-in-transit facilities /HM Courts/ Engineering depots / warehouses
G4S have contracted MEC Fire Services for Fire Risk Assessment (FRA), Fire Door Surveys, Fire Compartmentation Surveys and Passive Fire Remedials and Works, Including Fire Dampers and Fire Door Remedials.
This contract allows G4S business stakeholders to be safe in the knowledge that all pertinent business requirements have been met, including health and safety, operational capacity and capabilities, service levels, financial due diligence and commercial negotiation. In addition, G4S Supplier Managers work with MEC to ensure performance is monitored, service levels are being met, and added value through technology, innovation, and creative thinking is being delivered, to all parties’ mutual benefit.
G4S Schools- Tower Hamlets/ Greenwich
Across London there are a large number of client sites on which G4S is responsible for delivering Facilities Management services. MEC Fire Services have been supplying G4S with facilities management services, and in particular fire services for the past 8 months.
Since October 2023 works have been ongoing at over 24 schools in Tower Hamlets; Central Foundation school for girls, Clara Grant primary, and Stewart Hedlam School and schools in Greenwich; Crown Woods and Thomas Tallis.
The MEC team have been working tirelessly to provide vital maintenance and fire safety works during convenient working hours for the school. Completing projects in a timely manner has been imperative for the smooth running of the schools and has limited disruption.
G4S Medical Centres
There are many client sites at which G4S is responsible for delivering Facilities Management services. MEC Fire Services have been supplying G4S with facilities management services, and in particular fire services for the past 8 months. A section of these sites are over 16 medical centres.
