Although the weather appears to think it is April with all the showers, we are officially in Summer. Despite this Bath has still been a beautiful setting to work in, rain or shine. Some of the MEC Fire Services team have commenced operations at Abbey Bath Hotel, to complete essential compartmentation works to ensure Fire Safety Without Compromise for this beautiful building.
‘Fire compartmentation is the practice of dividing a building into fire-resistant compartments to delay the spread of fire from one part of the building to another, or to an adjoining building. A fire compartment is defined as a building or part of a building comprising one or more rooms, spaces or storeys constructed to prevent the spread of fire to or from another part of the same building or an adjoining building.
Between 30- 120-minute fire resistance is achieved with the provision of fire resisting walls and floors. It will include special measures to any openings in the compartme
nt lines, such as doors, glazing, service penetrations and ductwork.’
Work will continue diligently for the entirety of June, to guarantee completion by the contracted date to minimise disruption.
The rest of the MEC team have been continuing works within G4S schools in London, providing maintenance and replacement to Fire Doors to bring them in line with required standards. With this being the last month before the students break up for the holidays, it is important that we work at convenient times, sometimes post 5pm, aiming not to disturb their work.
As always MEC Fire endeavour to provide our exceptional service anywhere in the UK, which has seen our director Brent travel far and wide to survey works, this month, to Manchester and Edinburgh.
After last month’s surveys for a prestigious London hotel group, MEC Fire Services have been chosen to provide essential fire safety works. With works due to start in July let’s hope the summer sun will provide a bonus to working in yet another beautiful setting
