August

Going into a sporadically sunny August, the MEC Fire Services team have been hard at work continuing Fire Door Upgrading Works at The Royal London Hotel.

Fire Doors

‘A fire door is a type of door that has been built to withstand direct exposure to fire for an extended period without allowing the fire to move to the other side of the door. Fire doors are an essential facet of a building’s passive fire protection system. They are designed to resist the spread of fire for a period, normally a minimum of 30 minutes, allowing time for people to leave the building via an escape route if other routes are compromised in the event of a fire.’

This type of maintenance is significant in protecting lives, therefore it is imperative that fire doors receive regular inspections. Fire doors should always be fitted correctly by a competent installer as they are carefully engineered fire safety devices. Similarly, they should be inspected and maintained by competent persons.

The team are as usual, working hard to ensure this work will be completed to the highest standard and on schedule.

Whilst progressing with the Royal London works, the team have also been providing necessary maintenance for multiple G4S Schools, around London. Providing flexible working hours for the school and completing projects in a timely manner have been imperative for the smooth running of the schools and to limit disruption.
